JohnE McCray It's About Time Tour

Thank you for visiting and being apart of my dream!

With your help and  donations, you will help me live out my dream of being able to finally travel around  the country and play all the courses I've never had the chance to play and compete  against some of the best players in the world.

Below is a chance for you to learn a little more about me and why I would so appreciate your help. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Hello!!!! My name is JohnE McCray jr. and I would like to thank you for taking the time to check out my website and maybe learn a little bit more about me and my story and why this Disc Golf Tour is so important to me.

Ever since I was a little boy I have always been an athlete. I have played soccer, football, baseball, basketball...you name it I have probably played it. Soccer was my first passion, playing all the way through college and even a few goals in the semi-pro's. But two broken ankles and a broken jaw, yes a broken jaw, put an end to that career.

Now what?  "That's what I was thinking."

I need to thank my brother, who after moving back to Florida introduced me to DISC GOLF! Probably like many of you, from the first time tossing a golf disc, there was an INSTANT LOVE for the game. But with no disc golf course any where around, I had to practice at a football fields, my back yard or really anywhere and anytime I could throw a disc. I've spent hours putting in the back yard and still do. There is no better feeling than "getting it", the toss, the drive, the putt, the trick shot. I was hooked, comfortable all around the course and. I knew I wanted to be the best I possibly could and compete on a professional level.

The Florida Tour is where I got my groove, love that tour and it's where I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life - A professional disc golfer.

A little known fact about me  -  Florida Tour points leader 13 times I started playing disc golf.

Of course, you never know what lies ahead and in 2000, I met the woman I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, my wife Jennifer. Thank you Cathy and Murph for the introduction. Three years later we were married and life together officially began, first order of business; raising two beautiful and amazing daughters! So blessed and thank you Amber and Ashley.

Then came 2007, the year my life changed forever. I came home from work one day and my wife said I looked yellow and green and after telling her I felt yellow and green, a quick temperature check and she says "We're going to the hospital!" (For those of you that know my wife, you know, she is not one to argue with) Doc said I was extremely ill and admitted me immediately. It seems I was about an hour away from knocking on deaths door, and with surgery and two weeks in the hospital, come to find out I was battling Lyme Disease, and I mean battling. That tested me, but I'm here to tell you I won and I thank the good lord, my wife, family and friends each and everday and am deeply thankful to be able to enjoy everyday of my life.

So yes, my career kind of took a backseat to the kids, of course without any hesitation or regrets, and I that's why I wouldn't, couldn't or just did not travel too far away and instead ended up playing a lot of local events. Not a bad thing, but that and of course Lyme Disease, did keep me from competing all over the United States or even places around the world with the best of the best. But hey, that's why me and you, thank you again, are here right now. It's about time I go on tour and play all the courses I've never played, see places I have never seen and show you and the world how I play the game I love, the great game of Disc Golf!

We only have one life to live and I intend on living mine to the fullest. - JohnE McCray
